OUR STUDENT'S SUCCESS IN FILM & TV
MX Masterclass students have gone on to big things, whether that be appearances in major musicals, films, TV shows or being accepted into prestigious higher education establishments.
For our 12-15 acting students, success is about building strong foundations for what comes next. This may mean growing in confidence, developing clearer communication, learning how to create believable characters, preparing for performance opportunities or beginning to think more seriously about future acting, screen or theatre training.
We’re proud of all our Emmys, and our young teen actors are supported to train with focus, imagination and self-belief every week.

HOW OUR ACTING TRAINING WORKS FOR YOUNG TEEN PERFORMERS
VOICE & EXPRESSION
Acting helps students learn how to use their voice, body and facial expression with more control. They develop clearer communication skills while becoming more confident performing in front of others.
SCENE WORK
Students work on scenes and performance exercises that help them listen, respond and stay present with other actors. This develops focus, timing, confidence and the ability to perform naturally within a group or partner scene.
SCREEN ACTING & ACTING FOR CAMERA
Students develop skills that support both stage and screen: reacting naturally, understanding character choices and expressing emotion with confidence. We record scenes as they would be shot on set, so students build real confidence in front of a camera.
CHARACTER WORK
Students are encouraged to go deeper into character, emotion and intention. They begin learning how to make stronger performance choices, understand different perspectives and bring more truth to the characters they play.
CREATIVITY CONFIDENCE & TEAMWORK
At this age students become more aware of how they present themselves and work with others. Training builds confidence, creative risk-taking, listening, focus and resilience, with expectations rising gradually as ability grows.
CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT
Each term introduces new scenes, exercises and creative challenges, helping students keep progressing as their confidence, acting technique and performance skills grow.

How We Choose Students
TASTER DAY AUDITIONS
Our taster days double as a relaxed, informal audition, a chance to get to know each child and see how they respond in the room. We’re not looking for polish. We’re looking for potential, enthusiasm, creativity, focus and a genuine love of performing. Places are limited each term, so we consider each student carefully before offering one.
OUR ACTING STUDENTS - WE CALL THEM THE EMMY'S
BECOME PART OF THE FAMILY
When you join MXM, you instantly become part of the family. Students affectionately call themselves the “Emmys,” a name they voted for that stuck. Becoming an Emmy introduces your child to a bunch of like-minded friends who often become life-long friends beyond their Sunday classes, plus access to the Emmy Zone, an insider portal of useful MXM info.
Love, Respect & Positivity are the three words behind how our teachers and students work together. We take care of each other and celebrate every success; we share equal respect between students and teachers, with mentors who guide gently and never shout; and we stay positive, taking the lesson from every week no matter how big or small.

QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED ABOUT OUR ACTING COURSE FOR TEENAGERS
These are questions asked by both parents and students looking to join our MX Acting Classes for ages 12-15.
Is this course suitable for a teenager looking to get into acting?
Yes. Students do not need any previous acting experience. This course is suitable for beginners who are ready to focus, learn and take acting seriously in a fun and supportive environment
Is this course suitable for students who already act or perform?
Yes. Even though this course welcomes becomes our West end tutors and Michael have designed this course to take students who already take part in school productions, drama groups, performing arts classes or creative projects onto the next level in their acting careers.
What will students learn?
Students will develop acting, drama, character work, scene work, storytelling, voice, expression, communication, teamwork, confidence and performance skills.
Does this course help with auditions?
Yes. While this course is not only for audition preparation, we will teach the skills required to be successful in an audition. We will teach them how to shoot their own self tape and the things that auditoners look for.
Does this prepare my child for screen acting and film?
Yes. The MX Acting course for ages 12- 15 helps students build foundations that are useful for both stage and screen acting. Through character work, storytelling, scene exercises and performance training, students learn how to listen, respond naturally, express emotion and feel more confident performing in front of others. These skills are a valuable starting point for young performers interested in film, television or acting for camera. We even shoot scenes on camera to ensure students get used to cameras on set.
Is this course more advanced than the 9-11 acting class?
Yes. The 12-15 course is designed as a step up. It still feels supportive and inclusive, but students are introduced to more focused acting training, stronger performance technique and higher expectations. However, it is still suitable for teenagers who are looking to start acting at an older age.
Do students need to be confident already?
No. Confidence is something we help students build. The course supports both naturally confident performers and students who need more encouragement to express themselves in front of others.
Can students try a class first?
Yes. Students can register for a free taster day before committing to the full course.
