A Fun, Structured Step Up

EVERY SUNDAY

Our weekend classes give children aged 9-11 a regular space to sing, act and dance every Sunday, while keeping weekdays free for school and family life. Each session introduces vocal work, acting through song, movement and ensemble performance, building strong foundations in a way that feels exciting, structured and age-appropriate.

Creative & Structured

A real step up from casual drama, dance or singing classes.

Weekly Training That Fits Around School

One focused session every Sunday.

Fresh Every Term

New material, guest tutors and performance projects.

THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS

MX Masterclass students have gone on to major musicals, films, TV and prestigious drama schools. Along the way, they’ve performed at venues like the Royal Albert Hall, collaborated with groups such as Collabro, and worked in guest sessions with West End stars including Hadley Fraser, Lucie Jones, Kerry Ellis, Ramin Karimloo, Trevor Dion Nicholas, and Brandon Lee Sears. For our 9-11s, that journey usually begins with something simpler: making friends, learning to perform in front of others, and discovering what they’re capable of.

How Our Musical Theatre Training Works For Young Performers

SINGING - ACTING - DANCING

Each Sunday combines vocal technique, acting through song and dance within the same session. Students develop technical foundations while applying them directly to performance material.

INDUSTRY ACTIVE TEACHERS

Training is led by working West End and Broadway professionals who bring current rehearsal standards into the studio. Feedback is clear, structured and aligned with real industry expectations.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

Every term culminates in live performance projects, allowing students to apply their training in professional-scale environments. Performance is treated as part of the learning process, not an add-on.

CREATIVITY & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Musical theatre helps students develop far more than performance technique. They learn teamwork, focus, listening skills, resilience and how to support others in a creative environment.

CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT

Students remain within one focused training group, allowing progression to build over time. Expectations increase gradually as technical ability and performance confidence develop.

How We Choose Students

TASTER DAY AUDITIONS

Our taster days double as a relaxed, informal audition, a chance to get to know each child and see how they respond in the room. We’re not looking for polish. We’re looking for potential, enthusiasm, creativity, focus and a genuine love of performing. Places are limited each term, so we consider each child carefully before offering one.

Our Kids’ Musical Theatre Group, We Call Them The Emmys

BECOME PART OF THE FAMILY

Join MXM and you’re instantly part of the family. Our students voted to call themselves the “Emmys”, and the name stuck. It means a group of like-minded friends who often stay close well beyond their Sunday classes, plus access to the “Emmy Zone,” our insider portal of useful MXM info. Three words shape how everyone here treats each other:

LOVE – We take care of each other. We celebrate our successes and support our ‘failures’ – although Michael doesn’t believe there is such a thing as failure in performance.

RESPECT – We respect each other. Both the teachers and the students share an equal respect. There is no pecking order – we are all there to learn from the best and the teachers value how much they also learn from our students. Teachers act as mentors to guide students gently in their training. There’s no shouting in our studios!

POSITIVITY – We remain as positive as we can in our training, taking the lessons learned from each week no matter how big or small. The glass is always half full at MXM!

QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK US ABOUT OUR MUSICAL THEATRE COURSE FOR KIDS

These are questions asked by both our current MXM parents and students looking to join our Musical Theatre course

Is MX Masterclass suitable for beginners aged 9-11?

Yes. Many students begin with little or no previous musical theatre experience. Our training focuses on strong foundations, allowing beginners to join with confidence and progress naturally within the group.

No. Confidence is one of the main things we help students build. The course is designed to encourage young performers in a supportive environment, helping them feel more comfortable using their voice and performing in front of others.

Students will develop skills in singing, acting and dance, as well as teamwork, focus, communication, creativity and performance confidence.

They are both. The atmosphere is positive, friendly and enjoyable, but the training is still structured and led by industry professionals. Students are encouraged to have fun while learning proper performance skills.

Yes. This course provides a strong foundation for young performers who may want to take musical theatre more seriously in the future. It helps students develop the confidence, discipline and technique needed for more advanced training later on.

Yes. Students can register for a taster day before committing to the full course.
