WEEKEND MUSICAL THEATRE CLASSES FOR TEENAGERS
SING, ACT & DANCE EVERY SUNDAY
Our musical theatre classes for ages 12-15 take place every Sunday, giving students a regular space to train, develop and grow while keeping weekdays free for school, homework and family life. Each session combines singing, acting through song, choreography and ensemble work, all led by current West End and Broadway professionals.

THE SUCCESS OF OUR STUDENTS
MX Masterclass students have gone on to major musicals, films, TV and prestigious drama schools. Along the way, they’ve performed at venues like the Royal Albert Hall, collaborated with groups such as Collabro, and worked in guest sessions with West End stars including Hadley Fraser, Lucie Jones, Kerry Ellis, Ramin Karimloo, Trevor Dion Nicholas, and Brandon Lee Sears. For our 12-15s, success is about building the foundations for what comes next: growing in confidence, developing stronger singing, acting and dance, and beginning to think more seriously about future training.

HOW OUR MUSICAL THEATRE TRAINING WORKS FOR YOUNG TEEN PERFORMERS
SINGING - ACTING - DANCING
Each Sunday combines vocal technique, acting through song and dance within the same session, so students develop the core disciplines of musical theatre while applying them directly to performance material.
INDUSTRY ACTIVE TEACHERS
Training is led by working West End and Broadway professionals who bring current rehearsal standards into the studio. Feedback is clear, structured and encouraging, keeping the environment positive and supportive while students improve.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Every term culminates in live performance projects, letting students apply their training in professional-scale environments. Performance is treated as part of the learning, not an add-on.
CREATIVITY & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Musical theatre helps students develop far more than performance technique. They learn teamwork, listening skills, resilience, focus and how to support others in a creative environment.
CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT
Each term introduces new material, new guest tutors and fresh creative challenges. Students continue to build confidence, technique and performance maturity as they progress through the course.
CONFIDENCE & STAGE PRESENCE
Teenagers become more aware of how they perform, present themselves and work with others, which makes this an exciting stage to develop. Our training builds confidence in front of others alongside stronger stage presence, focus and expression, with expectations rising gradually as ability grows.
ACTING THROUGH SONG
Students learn to connect singing with character, emotion and storytelling, moving beyond performing the notes towards communicating meaning through the material.
How We Choose Students
TASTER DAY AUDITIONS
Our taster days double as a relaxed, informal audition, a chance to get to know each student and see how they respond in the room. We are not looking for polish. We welcome teenagers with different levels of experience, from those who have already performed in school productions, dance classes or singing lessons, to those just beginning their musical theatre journey. What we look for is potential, focus, enthusiasm, creativity and a genuine love of performing. Places are limited each term, so we consider each student carefully before offering one.

Take Your Performance Skills To The Next Level
Designed for ambitious young performers, this course develops the skills required for stage performance while building confidence, creativity and professionalism.
Students receive training in singing, acting and dance, while learning how these disciplines combine to create compelling performances.

What You Get Each Week
Vocal Training
Technique, repertoire and performance coaching. Our head of singing focuses on training the voice in a healthy manner to protect and preserve it using the latest research.
Acting Workshop
Scene study, improvisation and character work just scratch the surface of this training. Our head of acting combines a range of techniques from Laban, Meisner and Stanislavski in her method, training our students in a balanced and focused manner.
Dance Training
Commercial and musical theatre choreography with a focus on advancing each individual’s technique. Our head of dance works on a variety of techniques to enable students to dance any style within the musical theatre genre.
Performance Projects
Students apply their skills through regular performance opportunities.

LOVE – We take care of each other. We celebrate our successes and support our ‘failures’ – although Michael doesn’t believe there is such a thing as failure in performance.
RESPECT – We respect each other. Both the teachers and the students share an equal respect. There is no pecking order – we are all there to learn from the best and the teachers value how much they also learn from our students. Teachers act as mentors to guide students gently in their training. There’s no shouting in our studios!
POSITIVITY – We remain as positive as we can in our training, taking the lessons learned from each week no matter how big or small. The glass is always half full at MXM!

Are these musical theatre classes suitable for teenagers?
Yes. These classes are designed for students aged 12-15 who want to develop their singing, acting and dance skills in a structured, supportive environment.
Is this course suitable for beginners?
Yes. Students do not need to any previous experience. This course is suitable for beginners who are ready to focus, learn and take musical theatre seriously in a fun environment.
Is this course suitable for students who already perform?
Yes. Students who already take part in school productions, singing lessons, dance classes or drama groups can benefit from more focused musical theatre training with industry professionals. Our teachers will provide them with the tools they need to grow the skills they have already learnt as well as teach them new skills which are actively used in todays West End.
What will students learn?
Students will develop singing, acting, dance, acting through song, dance, stage presence, teamwork, confidence and performance skills.
Does this course help with auditions?
Yes. While this course is not only for audition preparation, students begin developing the confidence, discipline and performance skills that can support future auditions, showcases and progression opportunities.
Is this course more advanced than the 9-11 musical theatre class?
Yes. The 12-15 course is designed as a step up. It still feels supportive and inclusive, but students are introduced to more focused training, stronger technique and higher performance expectations. However, it is still perfectly suitable for teenagers who are looking to start musical theatre at an older age. Plenty of our students begin in our 12-15 musical theatre group.
Do students need to be confident already?
No. Confidence is something we help students build. The course supports both naturally confident performers and students who need more encouragement to express themselves in front of others.
Can my teenager try a class first?
Yes. Students can register for a taster day before committing to the full course.
